State of the river update (15 May)

The stream is fine! It’s still a bit brisker than it is traditional at this time of year, but well within the limits, so the regatta is ON!

However, you may have noticed that the BBC weather site is currently suggesting there could be thundery showers between 11am and 3pm on race day. The Met Office site doesn’t mention this weather option at the moment though. If racing has to be suspended because of lightening, we may need to cancel Plate events in order to get back on schedule; this is because crews in Plate events will have already had a chance to race and we will try to ensure that the maximum number of competitors, and particularly those who have come a long way, do get a race.

Both websites suggest rain shower, so please ensure all competitors have waterproofs.

See you on Saturday!
